RJ Murphy (they/them) is a first-generation college student studying English Literature. Their scholarship broadly focuses on the intersections between gender and sexuality studies, identity studies, Queer studies, and film and popular culture studies. After receiving their MA from WSU Pullman with a focus on Gothic media and identity studies, RJ is now pursuing their PhD, also at WSU. Their current research focuses on tracking and analyzing the social commentary occurring in contemporary media surrounding the subversion and queering of patriarchal capitalism by marginalized groups. When they are not studying the downfall of capitalism, RJ enjoys spending time outside, cooking, or relaxing with their family and array of animals on their small homestead.
